We had the pleasure of visiting Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Nogueras in his studio to talk about his career, Christmas, his album“A Gozar la Fiesta“, Parrandas, Tite Curet Alonso, Cheo Feliciano, and so many other things.

Entering José Nogueras’ studio feels like walking into Santa Claus’ toy factory. This place produces the magic of Christmas music, salsa, boleros, jingles, and other things that we have enjoyed so much.

It would be a very long writing if I tried to share everything we talked about in one blog. So I’m going to break it into parts, and in each one, you will hear José Nogueras talk about these topics.

Christmas Is All of Us

As the Christmas season approaches, in Puerto Rico, we’re waiting for José Nogueras’ new album just as we look forward to “turrón” and “pasteles”. It has become part of the Christmas tradition. In fact, I told Nogueras that I read somewhere that in Puerto Rico, “Without José Nogueras there is no Christmas“.

And that’s where we started. José began his response to my comment with a nice anecdote about his friend and mentor, the great songwriter Tite Curet Alonso, and then emphasized what we should remember during Christmas.
