NG2 “Mi Primera Navidad” Review

Salsa duo NG2 entered the Christmas music scene with “Mi Primera Navidad“, a quality production of “Salsa Navideña“.

Music in “Mi Primera Navidad“

Norberto Velez and Gerardo Rivas did an excellent job in their first full Christmas album.

The music in this album is first class “Salsa Navideña“. I like the sound of the band almost as much as the song lyrics.

The album has 8 songs with good taste and festive themes. By far, my favorite song is “Caballito de Palo“, which touches on the true spirit of Christmas. It reminds us that it’s all about our relationships and not about the material gifts.

“Soy Parrandero” and “Viejo Gordo” are the songs that have gained more playtime. Both are good, and represent well the rest of the album.

Musicians in “Mi Primera Navidad“

Besides the voices of Norberto and Gerardo, there is the important addition of the maestro Edwin Colón Zayas in the Puerto Rican “cuatro”. Edwin brings the talent and experience of past Christmas productions. This shows in the sound and the seamless integration of the “cuatro” into the overall music.

Along with Edwin, there are two great guests. Singers Danny Rivera “Voy a Pedirle a Los Reyes” and José Nogueras “Parrandeando Vamos” contribute their voices to the festive album.
