Roberto Carlos: 10 Songs of the Latin music Legend

1

I was thinking of the announcement this month that Brazilian Latin music legend Roberto Carlos will be honored as the Person of the Year at the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards.

Roberto Carlos with Waderlea and Erasmo Carlos
Roberto Carlos teamed with Wanderlea and Erasmo Carlos to drive the Brazilian Jovem Guarda TV show and movement.

This is an honor well deserved for this icon of Latin music. There is a reason why they call him “The King” in Brazil. Roberto Carlos was in the first class of the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievements Awards given out for the 1st time in 2004. This award will cement his legacy.

While thinking about that, memories came to my mind about the many songs I’ve enjoyed from this formidable artist, who I also remember for his peculiarity of always using an angle stand for his microphone. Roberto Carlos has recorded consistently an album a year since the early 60’s and continues well into the 2000’s. That is no small feat on itself!

However, it’s really his classic songs from the 70’s and 80’s that made the most impact in most of his fans. These happen to be the songs he mostly plays in live concerts these days.

I’m sharing with you my 10 favorite songs, by doing a Slideshare that talks a little bit about each song, followed by a YouTube of the song, most of them of Roberto Carlos live presentations.

Let me know what you think of the slideshare and if you have any Roberto Carlos favorite songs not mentioned here.
