Michael Stuart Rocks with Return to Salsa Single

…and I mean, he literally rocks. Michael Stuart’s new Salsa single has elements of rock and urban music, and it marks his 1st recording since 2007.

“Estoy Perdiendo la Cabeza” is Salsa with Electronica and Rock

“Estoy Perdiendo la Cabeza” is the title of the single Michael Stuart used to mark his return to the Salsa scene. It’s a Salsa-based song featuring the electric guitar of a Venezuelan player, which reminds me of Carlos Santana’s riff style. The song also has some urban/electronica touches.

In “Estoy Perdiendo la Cabeza” Michael Stuart relates the story of a person that has run out of money and has no money to cover some of his basic necessities.

It’s evident that despite Michael Stuart’s absence from the Salsa scene for 7 years, his voice remains intact. Stuart’s voice remains strong and melodic, with well thought soneos.

Michael Stuart Brings Different Salsa

Although I found the electric guitar a bit distracting, it’s clear Michael Stuart wanted to return with something different to what everyone else is doing in Salsa music. His rock and urban touches are most definitely different, although not sure how it will be received by his fans.

I like artist that take risks. We all have to at one point. In contrast to Michael Stuart, Domingo Quiñones came back with an album that is pretty much the same as what he did back in the 1990’s. Stuart’s tactic was to bring something new to his fans. I like the innovation risk he took.

All in all, I like his single “Estoy Perdiendo la Cabeza”, although I would anticipate that it may not be to the likes of every Salsa music fan.
